About the Herd: Shorthorn breeding goes back over eighty years and I am the third generation to follow in the footsteps of my late Grandfather John Farrell. Originally a dual purpose herd, we enjoyed great success winning numerous top awards in shows throughout the country. The RDS being the most prestigious show, winning the female Champion seven times and the overall Champion five times. In the late nineties we decided to change to Beef Shorthorns, things were moving very slowly and in 2006 we imported five females and a bull from two top herds in England. We gradually began to breed the type of cattle we liked. We now have twenty Beef cows with genetics from all over the world. We are still enjoying great success both in the show and sales ring. In 2014 we exported Ricketstown Goldfinger to Morrisons Farms in Scotland. We always have stock for sale and visitors are welcome by appointment.
