About the Herd: Our family run herds were established over 15 years ago when my father purchased his first shorthorn heifer from well known breeders John and Tom Brady in Co Longford. Our mixed pedigree and commercial shorthorn herd is based in a small village called Glann in the West of Ireland.

We own over 20 pedigree registered shorthorn cattle and some mixed traditional and continental breeds on our farm. We never looked back or regretted the day we decided to take a chance on trying to establish a shorthorn herd. Four years ago we began to show our pedigree cattle and since then we have had huge success. Our first sight of success came in 2010 when we were invited down by a good friend of ours Paddy Callaghan to the Limerick show where we won the All Ireland Yearling shorthorn class. Since then we have shown our pedigree cattle all over Ireland and hope to for the foreseeable future.

We have a keen interest in cross breeding our shorthorn cows with some continental bulls and believe that the shorthorn cow is one of the best cows to produce a calf from any bull. Easy calving plenty of milk docility and general hardiness are all factors that favour the shorthorn suckler.

We use all AI on our farm and like to use top sires such as Creaga Dice, Kilkelly Major and some new bloodlines from Canada and America. We focus strongly on the bloodlines when sourcing heifers for replacements and to breed on in our herd. You can see some of our stock in the gallery below. We always welcome visitors and look forward to seeing them. Stock for sale all year round and feel free to make yourself known to us at the cattle shows.
