The Irish Shorthorn Society is delighted to announce Pat Hehir of Ardnaskea Shorthorns, Co. Clare as the 2024 Hall of Fame recipient. The National Hall of Fame Awards took place on Sunday the 5th May in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone. Presenting the awards was Michael Fitzmaurice TD. Thank you to the Flanagan Family for holding this wonderful event each year.

The Ardnaskea herd of Beef Shorthorns was established in 1996 by Pat Hehir. Ten years later the herd produced its first show animal- Ardnaskea Angel that got Pat and his daughter Rachel started in the show ring. This heifer won many prizes as a heifer calf and yearling and this got Pat and Rachel addicted to the show ring. Since then they have gone all over the country showing their cattle and winning many championships. Beef expo in 2008 with Ardnaskea Rodney and again in 2010 with a red heifer calf called Ardnaskea Angel the 2nd. Pat won Tullamore Champion twice with Ballylaffin Dana as a yearling and a two year old heifer. Since then Pat has produced a number of All Ireland Champions and has had great success at many sales and shows all over the country.
