The proposed itinerary for the 2022 World Shorthorn Conference has been announced and is linked below along with the booking form.
The UK Shorthorn Society is proud to be hosting this historic Conference to celebrate the bi-centenary of the Coates Herd Book; the oldest Herd Book in the world. It is an opportunity to look where we have come from as an industry and where we are heading with the constant development of data technology and data capture.
The Conference will be an exciting, interesting, and insightful look at our heritage, and it will bring delegates bang up to date with the progress being made in the breed’s homeland.
The 14-day conference tour will begin in London on 7th July, 2022.
Following an overnight stay in the Castle Hotel in Windsor, overlooking Windsor Castle, the tour will then take you to visit some of the top Beef & Dairy herds in the UK. This will also include technical and cultural visits to the Cogent Bull Stud and Chatsworth House, respectively, before arriving at one of the UK’s largest and most popular agricultural events, the Great Yorkshire Show, where we will formally celebrate the bi-centenary.
The tour will then proceed to the outstanding Lumley Castle Hotel, where the Conference will take place.
This will be a full day conference on Friday, 15th July, with industry experts speaking throughout the day. The main theme of the conference is “Progression of Data, Genomics and The Next Generation”. The plan is to hold the World Council meeting on the morning of Saturday 16th July, along with the presentation of country reports.
After the conference, the tour will visit more of our renowned Beef & Dairy herds and include a trip to the world-famous Alnwick Castle and gardens, as well as the Beamish Museum, where history is brought to life.
