The Society are organizing a Commercial Open Day on the farm of Peter & Martina Luttrell at Killaglush, Ballybrittas, Co.Laois on Saturday September 19th. The meeting point will be Delaney’s Restaurant on the R445 at 1pm. On the day farmers will be able to see first hand a high Replacement Index Herd with alot of the cows and replacement heifers 4 & 5 star. Farmers can see the positive influence Beef Shorthorn genetics has on traits like functionality,calving interval, milkability, temperament and low maintenance.Crosses of most breeds can be seen on the day Limousin, Charolais, Belgian Blue, Saler, Angus, Simmental, Speckled Park, Parthenaise. The progeny from Peter’s participation in a Grange Synchronised Breeding Program can be seen. Also a selection of replacement heifers for 2016 with some of them Beef Shorthorn crosses from dairy herds. An ICBF representative will give a talk on Linear Scoring and the importance of herd data recording. All are welcome and light refreshments will be served. Event will be sign posted from M7 Motorway.
