Athlone show saw a nice entry of shorthorn cattle with some outstanding cattle on display. The good weather and great facilities made it easy on exhibitors and the mood was good at one of the first major shows of 2014. A big crowd saw a lot of interest in the breed and comments from farmers about how the breed and quality of cattle is improving more and more was great to hear. Judge on the day was Kevin Diffley a well known Angus breeder. His job was far from easy naming Creaga Heidi the overall Champion exhibited by Noel Dowd and Reserve Champion to the Flatley family.
