Irish Shorthorn Society Premier Sale 2023
Saturday 18th November 2023 – Roscommon Mart.
There was a total of 39 lots in attendance at the Irish Shorthorn Society Premier Sale 2023, including 35 females and 4 males.
The day began in the show ring where animals were judged by Richard Henning, a Beef Shorthorn Breeder from Northern Ireland.
The Results of the classes are as follows:
Class 1: Heifers born between the 04.12.21 and 25.02.22.

Top Prices on the Day:
Lot 2 Rockville Foggathorp 516, a roan in-calf heifer sired by Rockville Banada 452, sold for €2750. The stylish heifer is owned and bred by Anthony Dockery, Co. Roscommon.
Lot 7 Tullylynn Tilly, a roan maiden heifer sired by Kilbeagh Roan Ace owned by Michael Flatley, Co. Mayo and bred by Henry Boland, Co. Sligo, sold for €3950.
The second top price in the maiden heifers section went to Lot 6 – Creaga Una who sold for €3800. The roan heifer is sired by Napoleon of Upsall and owned and bred by Noel & Lisa Dowd, Co. Roscommon.
The top priced weanling heifer went to Lot 38 – Creaga Violet, owned and bred by Noel & Lisa Dowd, Co. Roscommon. The January 2023 heifer made €4500 and is sired by Napoleon of Upsall. The second top price in this section was Lot 39 – Ricketstown Madeline Tess sired by Ricketstown Pilot 294. The heifer owned and bred by Martin Kelly Co. Carlow sold for €3000.
Top priced weanling bull went to Lot 25 – Ballinlig Buster, owned and bred by Terry & Amelda Middleton. The April 2023 born calf made €2000 and is sired by Bushypark Spark. Ballinlig Buster is sold to Scotland.
Top priced senior bull went to Lot 31 – Moygara Cashback who is sired by Coxhill Karl. The March 2022 born bull is owned and bred by Michael McKeon. Cashback sold for €2400 and is heading to Wales.
